RECENT AUGMENTED REALITY WORK
AR is a great tool to extend campaigns and have some fun with our audience. The examples shown here are projects I did with Current Studios in Halifax for DIRECTV STREAM.
DIRECTV STREAM - TENNIS BOT TAKEDOWN
The first AR execution for the DIRECTV STREAM launch leveraged assets developed for the TV spots by Chiat. The spots feature Serena Williams as Wonder Woman and gave us lots to work with. Our partners Current Studios took the robot models created for the TV spot and radically simplified them to create fully rigged AR assets to build a fun game around. The game was deployed on Snap and IG and the versions had to be tiny, 10mb for Snap, 5mb for IG. Current Studios made this first of it’s kind, in lens game run smoothly and exceed expectations.
Chiat’s TVC is a lot of fun, it’s the perfect property to extend with an AR game. This extension brought the campaign into viewer’s lives by allowing them to play a game in their own space. This created robust engagement for and awareness of the new brand.
DIRECTV STREAM - MATCH POINT MATRIX
For our second AR execution for the DIRECTV STREAM launch we again enlisted our partners at Current Studios to build on the mechanics of Tennis Bot Takedown and create in a first of it’s kind AR extension with virtual environmental transformation. This time, Serena takes on the role of Neo from The Matrix. Not only do you get a fun game, your environment gets transformed into the matrix. This is extra fun when your dog walks through the frame.
DIRECTV STREAM - MLB MASCOT STADIUM TAKEOVER
This is an AR experience users can enjoy at home and have fun with - they can see the characters in their own environment and interact with them in a similar way. However, this experience is way more engaging if they use it at an MLB baseball stadium. This world first experience, developed by the amazing Current Studios, uses Machine Learning to identify users’ positions in the stadium, the experience is then generated from the user’s precise POV from their seat. The main experience features three MLB mascots entertaining the crowd, flying around and having a good time. Users can tap for a mascot party mode or they can take selfies with the mascots complete with a DTV baseball cap accurately mapped onto their head.
